Hello there, you might have seen me posting the results of my fighter evaluation and wondered on how I actually made it, so here I will
explain the whole process to you.
First things first, though, I saw a post at http://www.xwalliance.com were someone had posted
results of a mission that he had flown. While I found the idea very interesting I found out real fast that just one mission was very
inaccurate for a real evaluation of a fighters possibilities. So I started to work on a more comprehensive way to test the capabilities of a
craft. For this I designed three missions.
First Mission:
This is the mission that I found on xwingalliance.com, the craft you fly is the craft to evaluate, a super ace A-Wing is your wingmen. You
fly against 8 groups of 6 veteran Tie Fighter.
This mission tests a fighter capability to destroy a huge amount of fast, small and agile craft while also being able to evade enemy fire.
This mission does not take into account the amount of missiles a craft can carry nor the actual firepower a craft carries. (As two shots
will vape a Tie)
Second Mission:
Basically the same setup as above only this time it’s a top ace A-Wing and 8 groups of 6 ace Razor Fighters.
This mission tests the ability to fight a big amount of slow shielded crafts while evading heavy enemy fire. (The Razor has two lasers and
two ion cannons)
This mission takes into account the actual firepower a craft has, since the Razor is shielded, and while not being that strong it does take
quite some damage compared to the Tie. No missiles were used here either.
Third Mission:
One craft against a VSDII and the Azzameen Family Base, the craft is equipped with heavy rockets.
Now, this mission checks for a fighters firepower, and it’s ability to evade heavy turbolaser fire while still being able to shoot the
shield generators and then deliver whatever missiles it carries in a target. Now here the ion cannon comes into play since there you can
actually disable the VSD and then shoot it, which makes some things easier. While speed and maneuverability are important shields and a
strong hull are needed to accomplish this mission. The amount of points achieved on this mission depend on the actual time it takes to
finish it. Three craft did NOT finish this mission, T/F, T/B, and Pinook Fighter, while it sure is possible to do the mission it simply is
really hard, and to be honest I really didn’t had the time to try the mission over and over again. The T/I did finish it, though hardly.
I am aware that even this thorough testing still only scratches the surface of it, and more missions will follow. The next setup I’ll try will be most likely a fight against three ATR-6, because this is again a different setup of mission. But for now I’ll stick to this results.
One more word on the Missile Boat, I did use the standard complement of concussion missiles on all missions, since it simply is always loaded with them. I also think that the Missile Boat is actually overrated, I’d say in XWA, it simply sucks! It was awesome in Tie Fighter, but now it’s not good anymore!

Some more notes on it, while the top 5 really weren’t that much of a surprise, both the Firespray (6th) and the T-Wing (9th) were a little surprising. The B-Wing (8th) was a little low, I would have thought it would be MUCH higher, and the T/e1 (14th) was a lot better than I thought it would. Well done, it seems firepower does make up for a lot ;)
I know this is all a little hard to grasp at the first time, I'll make all of that a little easier to actually understand. (Too many numbers on too little space, I even get lost in that.) But for now this has to do the job.
